I had relatively low expectations for Holmes and it surpassed those low expectations so while I certainly enjoyed myself (enjoyed myself at Avatar too) it wouldn't be in my top 10 for the year. Not really sure what to recommend in terms of big budget stuff. It kinda depends on what you want from your big budget experience (all I wanted from Avatar was to be entertained without being insulted which i got and then flushed it out 5 minutes afterward). Are you just looking for recommendations from the recent big Hollywood slate films? Or are you specifically looking for Avatar style big budget that doesn't make you want to rush for the exit? If that's the case there's fuck-all in theaters right now.
