Not sure how many people have heard of this but if you live in the UK this is definitely worth checking out:

Secret Cinema is a monthly gathering of all that love stimulating, challenging and groundbreaking cinema. The internet is changing the way we watch films. The secret cinema changes where you watch films.
Every month a new secret location, you will receive an email the day before the screening revealing a clue to the film that is to be shown and details of the secret venue.
The film will be chosen by the secret cinema folk whose names will remain secret and sometimes
by you the secret audience who will send in your secret votes.
The locations will vary. Anything from derelict theatres, rooftops, parks and other secret spaces.
There will be surprise re-scores and special guests.

probably breaking protocol in posting about it, keep it hush hush ;)
Nearly 3 hours of 3D Imax was far too much for my taste. Certain scenes worked well for it obviously, but otherwise I think it took away from the picture.
Yeah Armands I agree, there should be more things like this about. I’m a stickler for atmosphere. It’s what I love most about film, and what better way to experience it!
Hi, I’m returning to London this year from Sydney where I’m finishing studying audio engineering (dullllll) hopefully at some point to study film. I was just wondering if anyone on here can recommend any particular ones and offer any advice. I like the look of NFTS although I’ve heard it’s hard to get into and I also don’t mind the look of the Met Film School.
Thanks to those who suggested genuine films set in the period. Unlike “Gladiator” etc.
I’m a big history buff myself and have always loved the period. I was just looking for a movie that would really convey the atmosphere/vibe of medieval life rather than a sweeping Hollywood version.

One of the reasons I came here was to get away from that crap, which it obviously is.

Excuse my ignorance but what exactly is www.secret-cinema.net?
And Ali I’m not entirely sure about the London thing, It does mention “UK” on the site. It seems as though their last event, at least, was in London.

P.S. How unintelligent do you have to be to think 1985 is medieval. Clue is in the f***ing title.

I think of the middle ages in English terms. So 1066-1485.
