Anyone who doubts about the magic of cinema should watch this.
Besides the story of an alienated writer form his society (and his marriage), one can find substantial details about Cuba (cars, streets, clothes and especially interior designs ) in late 60's. For this reason i agree about documentary aspect of this movie...
Lets not forget "Mayıs Sıkıntısı", which -imho- the seed of his latter movies. The Auteurs should definitely add this movie.
Lets not forget the masterscore of this movie, Laura best from Stephane Grappeli
I agree that this one includes all the Herzogian elements. Although this is not the best of Herzog, if you never watched Herzog before this is a good refined movie of what Herzog treis to -in his words "articulates"- express with his movies.
Popol Vuh's hypnotic tunes also deserves a mention
"Conquest of Useless" diaries of making Fitzcarraldo from Herzog's can be a complementary reading for this documentary.
