  damn straight! for me it's the atmosphere and his scores are so enticing, the man can create such a universe you feel like it's really his. over time if there's a genre i've grown to appreciate is b-movies and underdogs like Carpenter have tought me a lot. The things he's dealing with are big but he deals with them on an apparent small scale and that is what, i think, makes him unique. His John Does are unforgettable. And then comes evil and I love that fight. I dunno. I really love his work. Never fails me.
