As mentioned I’m looking for an english translation of “le cinema francais creve sous les fausses legendes” that is downloadable. any help with this would be very much appreciated.
i posted this about a week ago but no one replied. However, i can’t believe that enlightened folks, such as yourselves, do not know where i can find an english translation of this Truffaut essay,“le cinema francais creve sous les fausses legendes”, which is the catalyst for the refinement of auteur theory. I will be eternally grateful to anybody who can help me find this. I appeal to you with great hope.
A fantastic film, one of my favourites from HK if not any international cinema, a film that has true balance and who’s characters emplore empathy. there really is so much to Made In Hong Kong i can’t speak highly enough of it. A film that is in part alligned with the conventions of HK crime movie and its inherent notions of pride and revenge but is perfectly offset by the way in which it also serves to examine the awkward syntax of adolescent love and emotion. It presents a city struggling to deal with the morality of its criminals and the consequential violence and resentment felt by the its inhabitants and is a reflection of the unhappiness and feelings of loss contemporary to HK’s young people of the time. Which are pretty striking for a western auditor. Original cinematography and characters who are undeniably enjoyable to follow. This is a bloody marvelous film that anyone interested in HK cinema would find of interest.
I was actually trying to find this on DVD last year but the best i could find where some 2nd hand VHS on amazon.co.uk. So i await the day it finds its way on to the format but i imagine it will do.

Doom Generation, i think is a bloody good laugh although admittedly its a load of garbage….. I hate Dogville but everyone seems to think it is the bee’s knees. Gummo- Harmony Korine… fantastic film, a genuine masterpiece.
