Spielberg has been in the doghouse for me the last 6 years but seeing this again reminded me that cinema needs an optimist. We're lucking that optimist happens to be the most capable storyteller in cinema. (Miyazaki is a close 2nd.) Kubrick was right to hand it off to him.
This film cut me to the bone. I need a drink.
Inception....convoluted....effective....good. Worth the money spent. Spent a 1.50 @ Redbox.
This flick made me miss my Weird Wednesday's @ the Alamo Drafthouse on Colorado.
A lot of love for Aronofsky in Austin. I went to a packed theatre @ 2PM today. Sold out through Monday. Great flick though. Natalie Portman delivers.....EVERYTHING in this movie.
Excellent performances by Maggie & Jeff in this movie. & thanks to Scott Cooper for showing off those Texas Sunsets.
Wow, what can you say other than it had every reason to be good but just wasn't. Not enough takes, shooting days, creativity in visually telling a story? Take your pick. Every scene gained momentum only to lose it 4 seconds later. Hopefully Benicio Del Toro gets more opportunities to be the lead in large budget flicks. He's one of the better ones working today.
Saw this with Revolutionary Road as a double feature. Like Yin & Yang, but both very good efforts by Sam Mendes.
Its real sad that more people have seen Jewel's music video for this movie then the actual movie. I still can't convince my film snob friends to see this movie because Ulrich & Jewel are in it.
Is it my imagination or do all of Ang Lee's best films have horses in them. Sense & Sensibility, Ride with the Devil, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, & Brokeback Mountain.
The way the Chinese government treated Tang Wei after the release of this picture is disgraceful. One of the bravest 1st feature performances I've ever seen only to be met with a virtual black listing from her home nation.
Couldn't deal with the pacing when I was younger. As I've gotten older, the film has gotten much better in my eyes.
