I at first, actually did not enjoy it either. I think it's because I tried to follow it like a regular narrative and when they're little friend dies, I felt like the movie was turning into a thriller and then meandered. But now I enjoy it because it's a kind of motley collection of certain moments which just add to the feel of this summer in these kids' lives. The way the camera either shakes or is fairly calm with the tension of the movie is awesome, and the colors of the dumps and trainyards are so vibrant. And how these kids treat everything, it's almost as if these kids all know that someone is watching over them, and that they are all bound for great things (which is kind of how i felt back then, and maybe still do). That's why I love the title (the kid's name is george richardson).
