What Criterion Blind-Buys Do You Regret? over 2 years ago

Sometimes Blind-Buys payoff and sometimes they don’t. What a disappointing feeling it is when they don’t, but that’s the risk you take. Then to top it off Criterion films aren’t exactly cheap, which makes it worse.

What Criterion Blind-Buys do you regret the most?

For myself it would be:
“Solaris” (1972), directed by Andrei Tarkovsky

I just didn’t enjoy that film whatsoever. I can’t wait to sell it, and make some of my money back.

Which Criterion Menu and Package Design Do You Love? over 2 years ago

I really love a well put together finished product. The look, the feel, and the unity are all important to me.

Which Criterion Menu and Package Design do you love?

For myself it would be the “Three Films by Hiroshi Teshigahara” box set.
Hats off to the Art Directors: Sarah Habibi & Neil Kellerhouse , and the entire Art Team!
You all did an outstanding job!!! Thank you

“Mike Spence”- Really? it’s questionable? For me, Menu and Package Design are only a huge bonus. I didn’t mention that at first because I think such things are understood. I’m not the type that likes icing without cake.

Why Do Some Consider Notorious a Film Noir? over 2 years ago

I’ve seen Notorious on a few film noir lists, and I don’t understand why? Film Noir is a term that can be approached by many angles, and I don’t feel that any of them apply to Notorious.
To me, Notorious is a really well done spy thriller, not a film noir.

Any suggestions as to why some consider Notorious a film noir?
