I’ve been checking out lately some of the films younger directors have been doing, the last was Christophe Honoré. His stuff is by no means perfect, but it certainly has potential. Any other ideas of directors to check out, any language or country…doesn’t have to be amazing, but at least someone to watch for.
I have netflix, and Karagara. The web is going to make it so that we truly have access to every film ever made. Oh it was only released in France years ago and with no subtitles? Well on KG its ripped and someone does the subtitles themselves.
Why put a film out on criterion that will have a perfectly good normal dvd release? Why not use the money on films that are otherwise lost, or have horrible quality releases currently.

I think if you haven’t seen Hi, Mom! you should definitely check it out. [instant on netflix]
I’ve always really dug the shoestring, social satires that came out of New York in the 70s. Reminds me a bit of Robert Downey Sr’s early work.

it can’t compare with the others, but it’s still fun to watch after being so invested in antoine. It’s more of an indulgence flick for me.

Where should I start? I think I have access to most of his films, so that shouldn’t be an issue.

Has anyone seen The Friends of Eddie Coyle??????????? over 2 years ago
I just watched it, feels really flat and boring to me as well.
It may have been shot in Boston, but it doesn’t feel like Boston to me. May be because an English guy made the film.
