Opinions of Van Sant? over 3 years ago

He’s really hit and miss with me. I really did not care at all for “my own private idaho”. i like “elephant” and “good will hunting” . I HATED the short he did for “Paris, je T’aime”. But I have a really good feeling about “Milk” and I cannot wait to see it

Do You Like Wes Anderson? over 3 years ago

I really like him but i don’t think he’s reached his full potential yet. Also, I love watching his movies and getting that truffaut feel (the antoine doinel series) from them. Anderson is def one of the finest modern day american directors

Underrated movies/actors over 3 years ago

what are some movies/actors that you find to be amazing but don’t get the proper recognition that they deserve.

The believer by Henry Bean
Lars and the Real girl by Craig Gillepsie
The Son by The Dardenne Brothers

As for actors, Ryan Gosling comes to my mind.

I will update this list as I think of more

Benjamin Gump over 3 years ago

I actually saw it last night. And while it is fairly entertaining in the moment, it’s a pretty stupid film in my opinion and I don’t think I’ll ever want to watch it again. I don’t really get all the hype about it.

I live in Orlando where there is hardly any real art scene, let alone an art cinema one.I would hate to think that I would have to move to NY or L.A. to be near a community of cinephiles. So my solution is to bring the scene to Orlando. I want to gather filmakers, would be critics, cinephiles and organise showing of classics, discussion groups…ect
I have never undertaken anything of the sort . I was wondering if anybody here have that experience and how one goes about making something of the sort happen. I would really appreciate all of your suggestions, pointers and ideas. Thank you in advance….

Appreciation over 3 years ago

I loved “diary of a country priest” and “pickpocket”.I wasn’t as impressed with “mouchette” and “lancelot du lac”. in the latter, I felt that his technique of using non professional actors was not very effective. No emotions were coming across and It gave me no reason to care whatsoever about the story…
