Wonderful, scathing, and aloof. Brilliant. A single statement about how the extremes of the normal become weird. Polanski's "The Tenant" times "Napolean Dynamite". This movie is like a lingering remnant of something ugly that was said about modern life. The taste that's left in your mouth. As if we've all got a dogtooth in our mouth.
So great. Top 10, for sure.
Kaufman kills metaphor.
Gary Oldman is consistently underrated.

The fourth star is for the sheer monstrosity of the stunts.
Scorsese invokes Polanski in a twisted and brilliant psychological trap of a film, if you don't mind a little unfathomable darkness in your cinema. Scorsese captures you with a shot of whatever kind of shit they're serving up in those hypodermic needles, straps you snugly in the suture, and proceeds to mindfuck you til you're his docile and willing patient. Cinema geeks: easy to talk shit; hard to make a film. Rspkt!
Way better than the new one.

Pretty serious. You gotta love Samantha Morton.
Loved it.
Awesome film. I feel Wong Kar-Wai could have gone farther. It felt off in a very subtle way. I think the film was perhaps made prematurely. The story was all over the place (scattered, not just nonlinear), and some of the dramatic motifs and themes felt unfulfilled. On the other hand, wonderful and powerful metaphors throughout. Testament to love and the human condition, and a beautifully modern/scifi aesthetic.
masterful cinema.
Beautifully shot, but trying way too hard.
Budget has little to do with it.
You're pushing 30, Slugger, it's time to get some ambition...
This aggression will not stand, man.
I cried in the movie theater. This is one of the best movies I've ever seen. Acted and directed wonderfully. This film should not be missed. So much done with so little.
This movie is awesome.
