“Some people in there doesn’t seems to realise the big differrence between Bergman, Fellini, Kurosawa, and Tarkovsky versus Godard, Welles or Hitchcock… I’m not talking about talent, they just have a very different vision of filmmaking…”
I am a Criterion Whore. Hopefully they’ll release the films of Jean Eustache. The Eclipse Kaurismaki box set is great. I am eagerly awaiting the release of Chungking Express. The cover art is gorgeous.
Fuck yeah, Chungking Express. I can watch that film everyday for the rest of my life.
The White Mane.
I Fidanzati. Especially the shot on the beach at the end.
Anything with Parker Posey in it, even if it sucks.
He’s a good filmmaker. I like most of his films, but I bet he’s a big douchebag. And I’m going to have to disagree with the aforementioned post. The word “Best” should not go anywhere near PT Anderson. “Good” or “I loved Boogie Nights…” seem more compatible. Just my opinion, I seem to be a douchebag myself, appy-polly-logies.
I just watched Mobsters with Christian Slater and Patrick Dempsey on TV. Needless to say, it does not belong anywhere near the top 2 million gangster films.
Blow Up. The troupe of mods get on my fucking nerves.
My Blueberry Nights. Sigh…Please Wong Kar-Wai, Please don’t make films in the US anymore unless it’s with Tony Leung and Maggie Cheung.

I’d have to say Breathless and The 400 blows. This was about the time I started crossing my legs, wearing berets and raising my brow.

I can’t wait. I thought it was about the creation of the world. I remember reading it in a vanity fair article on him.

Why choose? These are two totally different films. Maybe, Godard’s early work vs his later work, in which both Breathless and Contempt can be winners.
