Impressive thriller for sure. Farrell and Forest Whitaker played some great performances. I enjoyed it a lot.
Four stars for Vince and Owen's banter.
I liked this film a lot. Really enjoyable characters and an interesting narrative.
Why isn't this free? It's a short.
Lovely film. Dustin and Emma work splendidly well together.
I have a love for anything Almodóvar, somehow I can never find any flaws in his work.
So bad, almost laughable.
I'm going through a kind of action phase right now and Fuqua is the dude with the best of the bunch: Training Day, Brooklyn's Finest and this. Yes, as Michael said below it is a well made action film nothing more nothing less.
A nice film however there was so much more that could of been developed and some scenes went by too quickly to gain any real substance. Yes, granted it is a 'road' film but I just felt a little short changed overall.
“Fast cars are my only vice.” ...and making films.
Ah man, it was so mediocre. The plot was lame and for me I felt the only half decent actor in it was Mathieu Amalric. I just hope Skyfall gets it as good as Casino Royale.
I don't know it reminds me of Alex Cox's "Repo Man". That similar character and setting. Got to disagree with Sabrinask I think the soundtrack melded the film perfectly well with the nocturnal scape and creates an interesting homage because the film was visually based on 80s action movies which relied on electronic scores/ Take Scarface or Beverly Hills Cop for example.
If it wasn't for the Fishy, I would of turned off half an hour in, he kept this boat a float.
As Corbijn is primarily a stills photographer you can really see that he played the idyllic landscapes to his advantage in this, the shots built up such an atmosphere and created visual language without need for heavy based dialogue. I think it worked perfectly in portraying Clooney's character also. I'm excited to see what Anton's next feature will be!
I just rewatched Orpheus, such a remarkable movie. I must watch more of his.
I liked Jeffrey Wright's portrayal as Felix in the previous two. I hope he returns for this one. I'm pretty excited to see what Javier will bring to the franchise too, perhaps his character will be an Anton Chigurh-esque role again.
Way to get your foot in the door for the sequel eh Paul. No film can hold a candle to Oliver Reed era Musketeers.
Luhrmann better not fuck this up. I'm cautiously optimistically.
Beautiful girl. On a mission to watch every film of hers now. Not obsessive or anything..
Such a sweet, charming film. Christopher Plummer was fantastic.
Fassbender is everywhere at the moment! Can't wait to see this movie.
Fantastic movie, has such powerful cinematography that captivate the screen. Ruffalo and Ryan likewise are super. I must watch more Jane Campion films.
Yes I concur with Threske, Minnie Driver and John's chemistry is lovely to watch. John for me always hold some kind of magic and charisma that no actor can, it's the way he speaks and the attitude and body language he portrays that really gets me.
I revisit this film often as I found it to be the most joyous film that embraced music and all the emotions that music evokes in us and highlighted that in a great way. I loved Cusack in this too, his spontaneity and charisma made him such a memorable character. I always wonder what it would of been like if they kept true to the novel and based the film in London though...
King Kong ain't got shit on this movie!
After Training Day it's gotta be hard to make a new film that will come close to the perfection that it was, but this was a tight thriller and I enjoyed it more than I thought. Nice to see Wesley back in form too and not making a direct to DVD feature.
"Desi Fantasy Hotline. For Hindi hotties, press one, for Punjabi poontang, press two..." So silly, but I gotta love it for my boy Jimi Mistry.
Perfect cinematography, holy moly.
Luc has gotta get back in the game of directing, I really liked this film, the usage of a modern day angel story is so fascinating to see, not to mention the great idea of shooting in monochrome. Ah yeah, a real nice film. Besson man, stop writing and producing crap like From Paris With Love though, please!
It wasn't as bad as Old School, I'll give it that. Or maybe it was.. I can't decide.
