I respond to films that are aesthetically significant to me. I don’t really have any rhyme or reason as to why I like something. Sometimes, it just works for me. I respond positively to Woody Allen’s work. Regardless of whether or not he was good at directing/acting, I think he could write a screenplay better than anyone else. The most important film in my life is Fritz Lang’s “M”. I don’t think that anyone has been able to match it in almost 80 years.
