Lars Von Trier is the master. This film was the most intense, most disturbing and horrifying film i have ever seen. It was even written about in the NY Post saying that durring a screening of the film, a man passed out towards the end of the film. Lars Von Triers other works are equaly as horrifying, and this film ranks in my top ten favorite films ever.
I found this film to be the same, yet diffrent than the original. All of the shots in the american film were literaly exactly the same as the german film. However Haneke, for whatever reason, left out four or five shots in ther American film that he had in the German film which made the German one better. The American film is a great horror movie, but the German version makes you think alot more.
This may be one of Haneke's most disturbing films. Althought i have come to understand what happend, me being a fifteen year old had a hard time making sense of it the first time i saw it. I however thought the idea of this film was brilliant, but again, slightly hard to understand. At the same time, if you watch it and do not fully understand it, it will still be a very creepy experience.
This film was visually stunning and brilliant, not to mention very disturbing. it was an amazing script and played out stunningly on screen. Althought i have not been a fan of all of Haneke's work, this one, in my opinion, is his masterpiece.
This film was the best cop drama i have ever seen. It was massivly bizzare and it was Nicholas Cages best role in years. The movie felt strange and slightly surreal which just added to its greatness. Compared to the original Bad Lieutenant, this one is far better in my opinion, yet much diffrent. I found this to be Herzog's best film.
After seeing Herzogs Bad Lieutenant, I was a little let down by this. Although it has the same great, bizzare, surreal feal to it as Bad Lieutenant, this film did not come together as i would have liked. This film did not make sense, and although sometimes that can be a good thing, in this instance it was not.
