Fernando, I completely agree. The beginning strikes me as very amateur and the acting isn't even half believable, but when they all end up in jail I fell in love with all three of the protagonists. Their relationship is like a dryer sheet in a completely loaded dryer; there's a lot of static there, but eventually they realize they're in the same boat and they embrace each other. The chemistry is top notch.
This techno-punk film kept my eyes glued to the screen for 67 mins. For such a short film, it goes by quicker than a 240mph tornado. Even from the first few minutes, when our protagonist spazzes out in a factory while the over-sized, opaque word TETSUO slowly scrolls across the screen I knew I would love it. The violence is bizarre and the script must be less than 10 pages, but this is extremist art in its pure form.
Beautiful, sparse....and a one man show featuring a strong performance by the very talented Sam Rockwell. Oh, and the score performed by Clint Mansell; Utter Genius.
