This film is absolutely fascinating!!! It had it's Academy Qualification run this last week in LA and I watched it three times . . . I found the story to be incredible . . . I'd say more about it, but I knew nothing going in, so I'd hate to spoil anything for others!!!!!
I agree . . . horrible photo . . . can we petition to have that changed?
Absolutely brilliant!!! An amazing experience watching this!!!
After much deliberation, I feel "The Fog of War" is my favorite film of the last decade. It's such an incredibly well-made documentary and it's subject matter is so well handled. Errol Morris has made some great films, but to me this is his best. It is a film that I can watch over and over again because how well the subject is shot and how well the piece is put together. Fantastic!!!
This movie is enveloping. I had an idea of what I was getting into when I sat down to watch in theaters a few years ago, but I wasn't expecting to have as visceral a reaction to it as I did. Ion Fiscuteanu's performance is so beautifully realized that by the end you feel as though you are losing someone close to you. It's a heavy film to undertake, but worth every minute I think!!!
Margo Martindale is brilliant!!!!! I absolutely love her, but Hilary Swank's performance only really made sense to me once I finally saw the monster that was her mother.
What a beautifully moving film . . . I adore every moment of this!!!
This is certainly my favorite of the trilogy, and I believe it's the best. Juliet Binoche is amazing in this!!!!!
Watching this film is like meditating . . . it is a phenomenally peaceful experience watching it. Don't fight it and just let take you on it's journey into the lives of these people who have chosen a way of life that is mind boggling at turns enviable. Beautiful!!!
The moment that stands out the most for me is when they are in the rented room together with the sheet hung across the walls to separate them and Clark Gable is describing falling in love but the camera is focused on Colbert who is silently falling in love with him and her heart is breaking . . . an incredible Colbert moment!!!!!
Yes, it's the talking to the camera that hurts . . . outside of that . . . pretty damn good!!!
I don't know, the story is so melodramatic that ending it the way they did makes it seem a little stronger to me . . . it makes the intention much stronger. Plus, I think Rodney is probably right . . . they probably didn't want the audience to leave the theater traumatized.
