Sheri Candler is an inbound marketing strategist helping independent filmmakers build identities for themselves & their films. Through the use of online tools such as social networking, podcasts, blogs, organizational outreach, online media publications & radio, she assists filmmakers in building an engaged and robust online community for their work that can be used to monetize effectively.
She was involved with promoting 2009 NFB Cannes Short Film Corner winner “Sebastian’s Voodoo”; 2010 Slamdance selection “YELLOWBRICKROAD;” and the feature documentary “Ride The Divide.” She collaborates with Jon Reiss, author of “Think Outside the Box Office,” & participates in his TOTBO workshop series teaching filmmakers & PMDs how to utilize online tools to build identities for themselves and their films; she consults with non profit film distribution, marketing & filmmaker education organization The Film Collaborative; she writes articles for Microfilmmaker Magazine covering the issues of marketing and distribution for microbudget filmmakers; & she is a featured expert in the new Guerilla Filmmakers Pocketbook by Chris Jones, Genevieve Jolliffe & Andrew Zinnes.
Continuing projects are World of Depleted now in production; online promotion of Sundance Audience Award winner & Peru’s official submission for Best Foreign Language Oscar UNDERTOW (Contracorriente); Sundance & SXSW 2011 festival publicity for the film “The High Level Bridge” directed by Trevor Anderson. Included in producer Ted Hope’s Brave Thinkers of Indie Film 2010 list. She will be contributing a chapter on film piracy & using P2P networks to distribute film in an upcoming book due out in September 2011.
She is a co-founder of the bi monthly Twitter discussion panel #filmin140 highlighting the rapidly changing rules and concepts in the world of independent filmmaking.
