The final film by one of the most important film artists of the century has shades of 'Jeanne Dielman' and 'Au Hasard Balthazar' while never straying from the directors singular vision of the world - at times grueling and others hypnotic it feels like the perfect concluding chapter to his career. The opening shot may be amongst the finest I have ever seen. His absence from the future of cinema will be sorely missed.
