I’m not a big QT fan. Don’t get me wrong, he’s got some pretty decent movies. Reservoir Dogs is a great first film. Jackie Brown and part one of Kill Bill were great. I have allways felf let down by his “Masterpiece” Pulp Ficting. The dialog makes it fun to watch with a group of people. It’s verry quotable. Jackson’s preformance is perfect but the film itself is full of filler. I’m not even going to go into Death Proof beyond saying that it was a perfect copy of those type of movies down to the falts. Now finnaly he’s just doing an outright remake with Inglorios Bastards. He’s a competent direcor with a big head. If anything he was a bad influence on film influencing people to just make “cool” movies that usually pale to his films. Cinematic genius he is not, we should leave that turm to the Ingmar Bergmans of the world.
I found the book for Clockwork Orange Far better than the movie, allthough I loved the film, Burgess may be the greatest writer that ever lived. Eventhough all his books are not good. I’m just talking about writing abillity, I have not found anyone that could equal him. Clockwork Orange the movie is pretty much the same as the book without the perfect ending.

I hated Magnolia. I love the rest of the film’s by P. T. Anderson. Punch-Drunk Love and There will be blodd are both Masterpieces. I just don’t see a point to Magnolia.
I was walking around block buster about six years ago when I came across Audition. I picked it up and a friend of mine that worked there walked up behind me “Kitty, Kitty, Kitty” I was like “What”, “It’s an inside joke”. So I rented that and borrowed a bootleg of ichi the killer from him. I watched them both back to back. I knew I just found something special. I never have liked the J-Pop horror stuff and had no idea this side of cinama existed. So I dove right in. He opened a whole world of diffrent films for me. He does not only do that type of film though but he can afford to putting out 3-5 films a year, you can be diverse and you should be. I here he’s better known outside of Japan, it’s hard to believe that people in his country are not paying attention to someone making such a stur. I love his films, but not all of them. As it should be. I just watched his Django and enjoyed the hell out of it.
I can’t wait to see this but I am not so sure it will be overlooked. I know it probably will not be a mainstream hit but it might make bank, It all depends on how they advertise it.

as far as anime series go I would have to say Berserk(Best story ever writen), Nadesico, and Tenchi.
I think QT is mainstream. He’s the only “indie” Director most people know. The four most well known directors around are Spielberg, Scorsese, George Lucas, and Quentin Tarantino. Most of the time that the only ones people do know, and Hitchcock.
I think everything happened untill the point where he got locked up. The film is full of hoplessness. It a world where everone that just does there job, no matter what it is, and not think at all for them selves.. He starts pushing against the system. When he get’s locked up thats when he breaks out in his head. The only place he can be free. The meaning I think Oliver is right, no single person and beat the system. It would have to be a large group effort.

I had 3 that crossed too, maybe your on to something. I don’t know if that is a good list or not. This was very hard and my list might would have been very different tomorrow even for the greatest films.
Film that a lot of people just don’t like but you love them.
Punch-Drunk Love
Lady in the Water.
Sympathy For Mr. Vengeance
I think all three are the Directors best work. Most of the tiime people either say that it’s the directors worst effort or is just plane bad. Post up what you want but no talking bad, this is a safe place for your dirty little secrets where all films are excepted and equal.
Hello
I’m Derek Wilkerson I am from eastern North Carolina and in my free time I make my own films. They have all been shorts but oneday soon I will branch out and do a feature. I went to film school and am back in school for teaching history.
This is kinda a parallel to my other post. “Films you love but most people hate”. Just post up the movies that you really really do not like that others just seem to love. Magnolia, Rushmore (I love both PT and Wes Anderson), Inland Empire(I love lynch but this seemed to miss it’s mark.) Never Back Down. I don’t know how many have seen this but my brother and his friends are all about this film and this is the most predictable movie I have ever seen, The fight scenes are pretty good but thats it. Cabin Fever.
I like the first matrix but I hate the other two. Also the matrix brought in the whole slomotion fight thing and I wish that whould just go away. It was cool for just like that one movie.
