As much as the covers for “Criterion”-level films are awesome, I perversely love the ones for films I never would expect to see, like “Norbit”. Then again, “The Rock” and “Armageddon” made it soooo… maybe I shouldn’t be so judgemental?
The Hulk Hogan set is genius. And the ones for Prestige and Dark Knight make me think Nolan is due for Criteriorization (sp.?). A movie like “Following” would be perfect.
I don’t know where to begin… I think I already praised the Eclipse Hulk Hogan… also the “Staying Alive”. If it’s okay, I want to add them to my Facebook album (with link for proper attribution). As much as I love the joke covers, I am really starting to love the one who “deserve Criterionization” too… “The Conversation”, “Pan’s Labyrinth”, “A Very Long Engagement”, “McCabe And Mrs. Miller”, “American Psycho” are all awesome. A couple of these stand out as “I would’ve never thought of these as Criterion but it makes sense to me”- the Eclipse Darren Aronofsky, “Talk Radio” and “Westwood”.
In general, it makes me wish I knew how to use photoshop.
My wishlist— “It’s A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World”, “The Last Of Sheila” and the Dr. Phibes films.
Tron rocks! I also like the sideway view on “The Dark Knight” which (to me) looks like a take on the old “walking up the side of the building on the batrope” scenes in the 60’s “Batman” TV show.
Man, these just keep getting better and better. “The Shining” is perfect, Nil. “Badlands” and “Sydney” (two perfect Criterion choices IMHO) are terrific. Great work guys!
I saw it at The Museum Of Radio And Television in Beverly Hills in the early 2000’s. It is something I always think of as one of the great “what might have been”’s for Welles. The idea of an anthology television show wherein he uses the medium in innovative ways to tell stories- I mean looking at the pilot, he uses slides!
Slides!!!
I try to embed it whenever it is available on You Tube. One of the greats.
Arthur Bannister- The Lady From Shanghai
Harry Lime- The Third Man
Nick Charles- The Thin Man
Dude- Rio Bravo
David Staebler- The King Of Marvin Gardens

These are great. Does anyone mind if I post a couple on Facebook. Specifically, “Norbit” and “Bad Boys” because they’re soooo funny?

“The Name Of The Rose” was inspired. And “All About Lily Chou Chou” makes me really want to see the film. More wishlist-
“Tampopo”, “A Taxing Woman” and “A Taxing Woman Returns”.

I’ll chime in and say “Great Starman!” too. The Thing and the Von Triers series are really good, too.

As one who can not do this, I am consistently blown away by the covers here. “Superbad” was genius and “The Conversation” fits the movie perfectly.

One of my favorites from one of my favorite docs. Wish Criterion would release a Blu Ray of this.

Stagecoach on Blu Ray. Next ones should be “Charade” and the BBS box set, both on Blu Ray.
