That's a bold statement, worth thinking about. I'll have to review both again. Cruz is exquisite, but Mirren is also remarkable. Hmmm....
Liv Ullmanns role as Emma Zorn is the best thing with this movie.
Masterpiece! Jessica Chastain is fantastic.
A little masterpiece . So beautiful, complex but at the same time simple, Jean Seberg and Deborah Kerr were excellent. I don't think I ever seen a film that have been like this.
A Beautiful masterpiece with a real Almodóvar-style to it. Penélope Cruz is amazing in a fantastic role that carries the film and should have won the Oscar easily over Helen Mirren.
September (Allen), Autumn Sonata (Bergman) and High Heels feels connected to each other in their way to describing the relationship between mother and daugther and I love these three films and the actresses that plays them (Mia Farrow, Elaine Stritch) (Liv Ullmann, Ingrid Bergman) (Victoria Abril, Marisa Paredes) though I feel more sympathy for the daughters, I also feel sorry for the mothers.
A very underrated Woody Allen-film. It mixes Comedy and thriller in a wonderful way. I love the plot and the characthers, especially Diane Keatons performance and the little world these people create on Manhattan.
A masterpiece! Beautiful and mystical. Jodie Foster gives one of the best performances I have ever seen, I think it's Jodie Fosters characther (Clarice Starling) and her way to play this role that made it to the masterpiece it is. The role is so complex and a very unusual female characther. She is not a victim neither a hero more like a real person that has to react and respond to this mad world.
I love this film! Especially the relationship between Mia Farrows and Elaine Stritchs characters, it reminds me of Autumn Sonata, another film I love about a mother and a daughter.
A masterpiece! One of the best films I have ever seen. Trintignant, Sanda and Sandrelli are also fantastic.
Interesting and a very special story but Altman never decided what he wanted to do with it.
Maybe Allens worst film ever!
An entertaining and fine film with a fantastic performance from Jodie Foster.
Ingrid Thulin is fantastic in this underated Bergmanfilm/play.
Really good. Liv Ullmann is fantastic and the film feels in some way like a mix between Hour of the wolf and Scenes from a marriage.
Maybe the worst film I have ever seen. Horrible.
A very underrated film. Peters dream in the film is one of the most beautiful and interesting scenes Bergman has ever created.
Not a masterpiece! But a good film with the great actress Ingrid Thulin.
One of Woody Allens best films!
