Ash – I agree with you Zodiac deserves a spot in the collection, but I’ve got to admit the 2 disc director’s cut Paramount put out is one of the best non-Criterion releases I’ve ever seen. I’ve got the HD-DVD, which is gorgeous and plan on upgrading to the Blu-ray in January.
Now, my picks:
There Will Be Blood
Nobody Knows
Eastern Promises
The Darjeeling Limited
Pan’s Labyrinth
Woman Is The Future Of Man
And personally, I’d love to see Pineapple Express. I think hearing DGG’s side of the production would be really cool, as opposed to the endless improv outtakes we’ll probably get on the DVD/Blu-ray coming in January…not complaining, just saying I’d like to see a different perspective on that movie.
Might be a little too soon, but I’m loving Kanye’s “808’s And Heartbreak.” “Dear Science” was great, as was Girl Talk’s “Feed The Animals,” which I have to love because we share a city.
Biggest disappointment I still loved – My Morning Jacket “Evil Urges.” Not quite the follow up to “Z” I was expecting, but I still gave it several spins.
George O – “Dude’s old, he’s a republican?” Not really compelling reasons to give someone a hard time, coming from a young democrat. :)
Sorry, not tired of Clint here. I’ll give you Mystic River, which I thought was extremely overrated, and I didn’t get around to seeing Changeling because it didn’t look that great, but I’m actually really excited about seeing grumpy old man Clint take on some young punks in Gran Torino. And Unforgiven is one of the most deserving best picture winners of the past 20 years.
I’ve seen Bottle Rocket and Chungking Express already (I get review copies) and I don’t think anyone will be complaining when they see these transfers.
Any Richard Linklater movie after Dazed And Confused?! Some of his best work is after Dazed And Confused. Before Sunrise, the even better Before Sunset, Waking Life, Tape, even School Of Rock.
Gus Van Sant? I’ll admit he’s hit or miss, but Paranoid Park was brilliant, and while I haven’t seen Milk yet, it looks great. But I’ll agree with you that Good Will Hunting isn’t one of his better films.
Spike Lee – I’ll agree with you on this one assuming you’re not taking his documentaries into account. Let’s not forget 4 Little Girls or When The Levees Broke.
Brandon Bedaw – While I agree with you that American television producers should not be forced into 22 episode seasons, 6 episodes seasons are merely tradition in the UK. As Edgar Wright (it may have been Simon Pegg) points out on the US Spaced DVD, they would’ve been happy to do more episodes of Spaced per season, but weren’t allowed because it’s just not done in British television. Mainly though, I think we’d all agree that art suffers when writers are required to commission a specific amount of episodes.
That being said, true artists find ways to work around obstacles. Some shows that I think achieve this that are currently in production are 30 Rock, Mad Men, Battlestar Galactica (the last season was a bit disappointing), Weeds, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and at times The Office.
Also, please give me a thumbs up if you think Entourage is shit. And by all means, thumbs down if you disagree.

Isn’t Blade Runner a film that most people love?
Mars Attacks! – I still think this is one of Tim Burton’s best, especially considering his more recent work.

Guy Ritchie – How many times can he remake Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels?
Nick Cassavetes – Sometimes the apple rolls very far away from the tree. Sit through Alpha Dog if you don’t agree.
