About Me

Maria Felix

I am a student at UCLA. I also study film at a smaller college. I have issues with a 5 star rating system, so I tend to grade up, rather than down. I try to write a mini-review for each film I see. It makes my ratings less arbitrary. Also, the ratings are for movies that I’ve seen since September 2010.

follow my tumblr, it’s about movies, mostly.

Hidden River

A bit over the top with so much nationalism, but overall this is Fernandez' masterpiece. Everything from the screenplay to the cinematography rings with perfection.

Sorry for the constant stream of likes on your posts (if you've even noticed) but your thoughts on Bergman's films in particular have consistently been spot-on, as I've found week after week. Keep up the great work.

Thanks! It pleases me that you've found them to be interesting. It's been almost a year since I saw them, so I'd like to see how much I agree with my own thoughts after such a long time and after seeing more films by him and others.

I imagine they'd still hold up quite well - they're some strong, distinct films there, as your own comments indeed indicate.
