I really liked it! There was so much going on, but as long as you pay attention, everything is pieced together. I really wish it was longer, although I know they couldn't have gotten away with a cut longer than 3 hours... I'm hoping there's gonna be a director's cut though. I felt another 30 minutes could have brought the film together even more without slowing the pace down too much. The actors did a good job of playing multiple characters too.
It was Sono. I still don't believe it, but it happened. It was at the premiere of Bad Film, his long lost film from 1995 that was never completed til now. I moved to Shinjuku, Tokyo a couple months ago... I'll be here til early next year. Talk about being in the right place at the right time.
I speak (very low level) Japanese, so when I was talking to him, I just asked if I could take a picture with him, and he basically said "of course" (in Japanese). I only talked to him a little, but he was nice... and surprised to meet a fan from the US. haha. Good luck finding Bad Film... it may be super hard to find until next year, unless you get the new box set that just came out. It's one of his weirdest works, but it has hints of what was to come with his later films. And yeah, I'm pretty much living in Japan just because I can, and I've always wanted to.. I'll be back in the US next year though. Shinjuku definitely has everything. It's my favorite part of Tokyo.
