Hey man, Adam just died. They'll get to this eventually! Lol
Not as powerful as the book and not as good as Wright's other films, but much better than I'd expected. Both actors do a phenomenal job and I appreciated how dark the film was willing to go.
Get your shit together Oscilloscope! I want to see this movie!
Woody Allen does not have messages, simply explorations of thought. This film is a funny, touching, and complex masterpiece. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.
Is this ever getting released?
Such a genius. I'd very much appreciate it if the two documentaries about him were added to the database.
Mean, and not in a good way. Satire only works when its characters aren't completely devoid of humanity. Alexander Payne hates his characters and it makes his films inherently flawed. Hilarious and maybe even brilliant, but in my opinion a failure.
A wonderful adaptation. It perfectly streamlines a delightful, but meandering novel into a quick (but patient) and thoroughly enjoyable film. Once again, hats off to Mr. Wright.
When is this getting released on DVD??
Anyone know where I can see "Transfer"?
How are his mini-series? Charles II, Bodily Harm, and Nature Boy... worth checking out?
This movie is so fucking underrated I'm amazed. This is how you make an action movie, Michael Bay. This is how you film a fairy tale, Catherine Breillat.
This film is a masterpiece. If after one viewing you think it's pretty good, but maybe too predictable or too easy, see it again. I'm sure glad I did.
I finally own this masterpiece of a film! I can't wait to rewatch it. It's been years.
Maybe I love the books too much to have ever loved this movie, but I think the biggest problem with this movie is that it's both too faithful and not faithful enough. Instead of turning the film into its own work of art it simply feels like the novel filmed, but since it's inevitable that you'll have to cut things out when filming a novel a lot of the details that make this book come alive were cut out.
While this film may be the very definition of "flawed" I think it does have a lot going for it and is much better than most people think. It would have been light years better without the Katrina framing device and the last part with him as a baby.
Reason #254 That I'm Glad I'm Not a Woman: Udo Kier
I've not seen a single film from this obviously prolific director. So I'm curious... what does everyone think is his best film?
I should get a medal for having the self-control to not watch the trailer online before I get to see it at Black Swan next weekend!
Platinum Blonde needs to be added!
This film really isn't that good, but it's so extremely gorgeous to look at that I can't help but rate it highly. The ballet dance in the rain... amazing... and just all those luscious greens. The camerawork is great too. I'd say 95% of what's positive in this film could be credited to Coppola and his cinematographer.
I don't know if I've ever been so overwhelmed with joy as I just was discovering the existance of this film after having just watched Bluebeard. I'm obsessed with fairy tales and am quite dismayed that Disney seems to be the only creative force turning them into films (no offense to my childhood). I can't wait for this! I hope it's part two of a trilogy of Breillat fairy tales concluding with The Little Mermaid!
Ok I take that back.
God damn I wouldn't watch Daredevil again if it meant I could have sex with Eva Green.
I've seen this twice and it didn't get me laid. How the hell did that happen?
Ahh Human Form doesn't Zack Snyder have enough flaws without having to bring in the anti-Semitism? :P
Hey all you fools. Watch this film. Now.
Kurt, I don't know if one sentence has ever made me more curious about a film. :D
Somehow it gets better and better each time. :)
Easily my favorite book as a kid. Is the movie worth watching?
