Also on the pro-Robocop side, for these reasons:
1. shooting criminal scum in the cock
2. “I’d buy that for a dollar!”
3. shooting people until they fall apart
4. drug house shootout
5. toxic-waste fucking that one guy up nasty, then watching him explode on the hood of a car
6. the amount of tears shed when the cops riddle murphy with bullets in the parking lot
7. the fake commercials
8. ed209 malfunctioning on that poor bastard in the conference room
9. awesome shiny title credit
10. the POV scene when he’s first born (“you’re gonna b a bad motherfucker”)
and 11. for good luck, “and a car with really shitty gas milage!”
i dont think furmans kidding. probably just REALLY digs comics.
and yea, it is definitely NOT one of the greatest films of all time. but dammit, how can u not have a good time watching it? everyone who has a stick up their ass just because all the kiddies wont shut up about, need to chill out. it is annoying hearing everyone say its so much more than it is, but guess what, these people HAVE NO DIRECT EFFECT ON THE FILM ITSELF. also letting little things liek bales stale acting is kinda cheap. if ur someone who hates the flick not because of the film itself, just consider what a douche u are.
and btw, no guys, the dark knight is NOT one of the top films of all time, REGARDLESS OF WHAT IMDB SAYS. its just a list on the internet dammit, grow up.
comic book lovers can be split into two groups, the ones that are so die hard that they cry and complain when someone tampers with the smallest details of their favorite comic. then theres the ones that just love comics so much that seeing it transferred into any other media makes them giddy, regardless of what ‘film experts’ say about it. people like that love comic book movies simply because the source material is comics.
as for batman being the main character, meh.. i rly dont think so, even if the title is his nickname.
btw, not sure how confusing the sentence could have been, but that really felt like a cheap shot at my grammar or something. is that really what this thread is going to come to? if not, my misunderstanding.
i usually give all tracks a chance, but if im not interested in the first few minutes, then i really dont bother. one of the better tracks out there that i loved listening to, was annet insdorf for the 3 colours trilogy. i really dug that, because she was so close to kieslowski, i felt confident in a lot of the things she was saying.
in bruges – the scene with the kid in the church
schindlers list – the end sequence
titanic – NOT leo dying, but when those musicians play, and say their last words to eacother
fallen angels – when the mute is remembering his dad to that one up beat song
First off, thank you Alex Urie for pointing that out. No sarcasm, some of the people here forget that their voice does not equal fact. That being said….
Having seen/read enough Tarantino interviews, Q&A’s, etc.., I can honestly say that he is not a hack. Everyone emulates in their films one way or another, it just happens. Tarantino is just a lot more open about it, and when he does it, he makes it his own. When it comes down to it, I think he’s a great filmmaker and its a shame I feel alone here, because I feel that trashing him has just become the cool thing to do. Too many people keep speaking without having any info to back them up.
He’s a racist? Just because of the characters in his movie? Who usually end up being ignorant or bad. What’s that say about his views on racism? Tarantino grew up in a very black community with plenty of black family and friends.
Out of all the excuses I’ve heard for people not liking Tarantino, that last page was probably the worst. I seriously wouldn’t have any problem if some just said “He’s not my cup of tea.” (now waiting for numerous posts saying just that) If it weren’t for a select few on this site, I believe the lot of TA users are snobby film students and people in the film industry who feel that what they say is more meaningful only because of their line of work. just gets my man-panties in a bunch……
even if no one reads that, I feel better getting it out…
yea, godards the most over rated. thank u man for breaking the rules, but thats all you’re good for. maybe my life to live and breathless, but even then they were kind of a drag. the ending to the 83 breathless was better anyway
in my post, i said thank you to him. as in yes, im thankful for what he did, which happens to b the only thing anyone is pointing out. however, it DOES matter how many were unwatchable. saying his films are theses magnificent things regardless of how much of it is shit, is just stupid. im not about to burn every one of his movies and tell the world to forget about him, because i believe we should embrace his work. but when everyone goes on and on about how wonderful his work is, and even go as far as saying hes the best, its just stupid.
as for the 83 breathless… i dug the love more in godards. but the 83 is more enjoyable. and the ending actually made me feel for him.
i made this flick back in 2004, little flick me and my buddies through together one month. my grandma and great grandma really dug it, and they really wanted a DVD copy. i never got around to making them a copy, and they were on me all the time, always asking about the damn dvd. just last year my great grandmother passed away, she never got a copy, never got to see it again. i dont want to die never having seen some films one more time just because they never got around to making an R1 release. so ill pirate the fuck out of the movie if its my only means of getting it. and if they release it afterwards, ill buy it.
its cute how some of u are getting so upset at each other.
“Slayare,

this is a beautiful fucking thread, really quite beautiful. bringing out the love for film it is, a wonderful change from all the arguing and stuck up horse shit that floods these forums.
i dont have any guilty pleasures, but i suppose there are flicks ppl here wouldnt take kindly to… sooooo——
- the pest
- the angel guts series, specifically Red Classroom
- Robocop 2
as for being close to me, recently Rourke in the Wrestler, and Lewis in There Will Be Blood. beside the elements portrayed in the films, the actual performance of the both of them completely reminds me of my father. daddy issues? not so much. daddy inconveniences and difficulties? probably. loved Evan Rachel Wood, and Dillon Freasier, truly.
anything by that hack scorsese, or the piece of shit that is antoinini. worse yet, the slow suck fest that is Francis Coppola. id die twice if it was anything by Mellville. god forbid i have to sit through Darron Arronofsky… also jarmusch can suck my ass. hehe. whos heart dropped? im only kidding… but really… a lot of tim burtons work just annoys me…
i really dug Contact. few of my friends hate on it, but i really enjoy it, especially that crazy guy who lives in space because of being sick.
deep blue sea was great, really loved the score for it as well.
nobody here seems to be fond of the 83 breathless.. to me its a lot better than godards.
and am i the only person who likes the matrix as a trilogy? sure the first was the best, but the other two were fantastic. im tired of people saying they only made 2 and 3 for money. it was written as a trilogy, and for the longest time they never thought they wud even make the last two.
funny i find this today. only a few days ago did i make my first attempt at the decalogue. (kieslowski) I’ve only watched two of them, and the first one could very well be my second favorite film from him, aside from Bleu. I can’t wait to finish watching the rest of them, very promising they all are.
i think its pretty well said, ‘a smart action film’. however it still feels a little harsh.
probably not the strongest of stories, or intense acting, BUT its veerrrryyyy well directed. A strong hold of the films mood and scenes, by themselves and as a whole. Cauron really embraced the art on this one. Boring? Not at all.
when u say micro budget i really think of someone who had a consumer mini-dv camera, practical lights and some actor friends. one of the most microbudget looking films thats actually very interesting is Love and Pop. its this japanese flick about school girls dealing with perversion in japan. very fun to watch. but then again that might just be me, i love watching POOOOORRR production value films with good ideas.(specifically shot in 60i Mini-DV)
