I was turned on to this film after watching Romain Gavras's music video for "Justice - Stress." The music video was completely influenced directly by "Man Bites Dog."
"Forever a Tramp": Modern Times is my favorite of Chaplin's work.
They are missing alot of films for Toback, funny enough they have the remake of "Fingers" but no "Fingers."
I want to give some props to "Johnny" John Williams for the music to this great comedy. I love he was credited as Johnny.
One of my favorite films ever. This is one of those films people need to deconstruct its editing and storytelling method. Its a fun ride without taking a linear structure to storytelling. And even though they use the same musical motif throughout the film, I like melody alot.
Carey Mulligan was great, I can see that the director wanted to cast her as modern day Audrey Hepburn, great choice. Even though I love the film and the premise, and the beginning was very engaging. I can't help myself from seeing the parallels to "Risky Business" by the end. Maybe I am clinging to much on the idea of getting into school and the risky behaviors that almost wreck those futures.
If you like odd comedies, I would recommend, "The Baxter" its made by the guys from Stella Comedy and you will notice alot of similarities to "the Apartment." Even the title of the movie is a complete pull from this film, Bud Baxter.
