The arthouse audiences can be just as annoying, if not more so. People are so fake, and make it a point to laugh loudly at subtle jokes that shouldn’t really make them have that sort of reaction.
Criticizing films in general for being too long is ridiculous. A bad movie is a bad movie. Of course those horrible films you are mentioning are too long. Their 30 second TV spots are excruciating enough.
I understand that it’s depressing and it does have some good moments…and I’m sure the book does the story justice more than the film, but there were some laughable scenes.
Don’t be ignorant. Run time isn’t the real argument, limitation of art is the argument. You’re arguments about films having to fulfill genre structure obligations is pretty disgusting.
Give me a break. Silent films of all genres were commonly 3 or 4 hours.
I agree the shitty movies are just being stretched out, obviously making them longer won’t help, but the filmmakers should still have the freedom to make the film however they want.
The Wayward Cloud – 114 minutes
Love Exposure – 237 minutes
You’re observations aren’t really empirical seeing as the classification of successful films by genre are all subjective opinions and the run times are coincedental. Anyways I think The Apartment is too long. haha
In the future I propose all painting should be limited to 6×9 canvas.
I find personal lists much more exciting. It’s always great to see Altman’s Popeye and Gremlins 2 on the same list with Brakhage’s Dog Star Man and Snow’s Wavelength.
Looks pretty lame…I’d have absolutely no interest if Scorsese wasn’t the director. I still have little interest even with nothing worth seeing in theaters and knowing Scorsese directed it.

Yes, every film should follow predetermined genre restrictions! Genius.

Well, I was referring to some of the instances where Leo is yelling. His acting gets a little over the top at times, and I found it pretty funny.

The Quentin Tarantino Poll over 2 years ago
Agree
His films don’t make enough money and aren’t artistically important enough to garner as much attention as they do.

God forbid anyone try to transcend genres or rethink conventions, or break down boundaries.
With that sort of thinking we can guarantee to keep seeing the shitheeps being passed off as movies.

“Where did you buy the device that lets you see why and how much someone finds something funny?”
well, when it’s blatantly obvious they are just trying to show everyone that they “get it” so they can look hip you don’t need said device.

I know genre theory is important, but it is also responsible for 90% of literature, music, and film related arguments. haha
