Yes, it is quiet an experience. The first film I have ever seen, and by now I've probably seen it over 130 times. Peck is terrific and the screenplay by Ray Bradbury is very well written. I think it is available as streaming video on Netflix, you might want to check it out.
I just saw your post on books you'd like to be made into films, and I must say that after I saw There Will Be Blood for the first time, I thought the exact same thing.
