About Me

I’m like a drunken and besotted father figure of old who was pushed on an ice wedge to sea.

I live in Decatur, GA, which is just east of Atlanta.

I’m not an intern anymore! :)

My rating scale:

5 – hated it
4 – hated it
3 – hated it
2 – hated it
1 – hated it

My current (highly arbitrary) top 20:

1. Eraserhead (Lynch, 1976)
2. Le Bonheur (Varda, 1965)
3. Pierrot le Fou (Godard, 1965)
4. The Shining (Kubrick, 1980)
5. Cleo from 5 to 7 (Varda, 1962)
6. 8 1/2 (Fellini, 1963)
7. Last Year at Marienbad (Resnais, 1961)
8. L’eclisse (Antonioni, 1962)
9. A Woman Under the Influence (Cassavetes, 1974)
10. Jeanne Dielman, 23, Quai du Commerce, 1080 Bruxelles (Akerman, 1975)
11. Solaris (Tarkovsky, 1972)
12. A Woman is a Woman (Godard, 1961)
13. A Serious Man (Coen bros., 2009)
14. The Match Factory Girl (Kaurismaki, 1990)
15. Gummo (Korine, 1997)
16. Pigs and Battleships (Imamura, 1962)
17. Pale Flower (Shinoda, 1964)
18. Kiss Me Deadly (Aldrich, 1955)
19. Sweet Smell of Success (Mackendrick, 1957)
20. Sing a Song of Sex (Oshima, 1967)

I like a lot of music, too – especially classical, modern comp, experimental / noise, & experimental pop. I’m working on my own noise project right now called Today’s Hypersexualized Female.

Here are some songs I made:

A Train

Cup, Etc.

I would really like your opinion on either of these songs if you have one!

P.S. I luv mubis.

your reading of spring breakers is spot on, I think. Judging from the content and numerous interviews with Korine I read it seems as if satire was the last thing on his mind.

Good idea to close the thread. I don't know what's wrong with those people who thought it was a good subject to joke about.

Guess I'm a little late responding to this... but, yeah, I was pleasantly surprised when I looked at it the next day and they actually did close that thread. There was nowhere good that thread could have gone....

This film seems to be almost completely opposite in mood to any other Godard film I’ve seen, and left me kind of confused and cold. But that was about a month ago, and since then, I’ve been thinking…  read review
