I know you wrote the review 3 years ago, and you may not even read this message, but reading your review of "Sweet and Lowdown" I noticed something that is factually incorrect. You pointed out that Samantha Morton was the first actor to be nominated for a non-speaking role. This is not true. Patty Duke in "The Miracle Worker" (won), John Mills in "Ryan's Daughter" (won), Marlee Matlin in "Children of a Lesser God" (won), and Holly Hunter in "The Piano" (won) all came before Morton.
Yes! I totally agree with you! I think watching films has taught me so much more about life than life itself ever will. I want to see Eyes Wide Shut not because it has promiscuous elements, but because it is progressive and intellectual. Films shape everything for me. They teach me about the person I want to be, but more importantly, they teach me about the person I don't want to be. That's I don't see my age as an issue. Regardless of whether or not I like a particular film, I am always going to be able to draw something from it as long as it is a respected piece of work.
