Or, later, lazy hack.
How come Les Trois Inventeurs (1980) isn't here?
A truly unique horror film. It makes incredible use of eerie atmosphere and macabre settings. Truly an accomplishment! ...and ahead of its time in the genre.
Silly fun!
Great job on the show The IT Crowd!
Too bad not too many americans are familiar with one of the funniest movies ever made! This film is a masterpiece. It is both a cavalcade of comedic talent and a tremendously entertaining adventure. A formidable line up of talent and incredibly droll and singular characters. The movie never loses its revelry in humor or its intensity. Quite a treat to all. Laugh out loud riot!
Phenomenal! Elated to discover the director, music, and the masterful film. Recommend highly. Can be watched over and over. Quickly to grow as one of my faves.
Too sad that we have not given honor to one of the brightest comedians of the silent era. The genius of his improvisations will always be the beginnings of comedy as we know it. Please add his films (of which there are many -- "The Three Must-Get-Theres" is the first parody in existence is a must for the site, so must his other films).
quintessential nonconformist genius
Lucky lucky LUCKY you!!! I would love to see him, one of my favorites!
Surreal entertainment at its most frivolous and at times ribald. An excellent fair of the ridiculous. A subtle dream-like escapade into incoherency, yet absolutely enjoyable for the combination of its subtlety and its roughness. Truly should not be missed. An overlooked gem!
Where is "The Big Guns"?...
Deftly written script, wry and funny at times. Plenty of plot twists. A great viewing experience.
One of my favorite performances from the multitalented Ed Norton.
An amazingly talented actor. His role in a television mini series where he plays a murderer named "Krot" is unforgettable. "Protivostoyanie" (1985). Highly recommended, if even only for his performance.
Another perfect film! If there were six stars to give I would! Amazing adaptation of Bulgakov's genius novella. Top notch performances and great cinematography make this just about the most accomplished film in made for tv.
Please add the cast, some great performances in this film!
Something to watch and rewatch! Imagination gone berzerk.
Whoever it was who posted "Favorites de la lune", I thank you profusely!
This is a brilliant parable! Everyone run to watch it if you can!
This actor is sublime. He ranks above many and with the best. Where is "Agoniya" (1981).
One of the greatest Soviet artists of our time. Left us when he was too young and still had so much to offer. He could play any role and make us believe his genuine heart. A man of many unique talents who possessed the noblest of souls and a sincere nature.
A man of tremendous talent and great depth. He was sublime commentator on children and childhood and touched us in many film genres. His talent shall always shine. Just a few more movies that deserve to be up there (not to be limited to these): Po semeynym obstoyatelstvam (1977) The Overcoat (1959) Priklyucheniya Buratino (1975)
His immense talent is impossible to measure. The most versatile and broadest performer of soviet film. A true master of the cameo, expert with both dramatic and comedic roles.
Unsurpassed! Truly an artist! No words to describe the epitome of his talent!
Mesmerizing...haunting and horrifying...artful...alongside an impeccable performance impossible to duplicate
If ever a perfect film exists...
The Best.
Some movies just don't deserve to be here.
A true accomplishment of sheer beauty. Uplifting, enchanting; plays harp with all your heartstrings. Superbly shot and evenly paced.
Just watched the surviving footage of The Divine Woman (1928) (all 9min of it). Anyone know why there are russian subtitles on the print?
