Original

M. Night Shyamalan

I don't know if a filmmaker has ever had such a relentless, horrifying public assassination. Even when Heaven's Gate ruined Cimino, the general populace left the guy alone.

Lau Kar-leung is really a god among martial arts directors. I think "Eight Diagram Pole Fighter" is still my favorite film of his, but I was very impressed by "My Young Auntie." Kara Hui is also one of the most beautiful women alive so it was great to see her in a major role rather than merely a supporting character. I hope to see the rest of his work before the year closes out. I picked up "Heroes of the East" with "Auntie."

Seeing his work is one of my year goals as well though it's going to be a tough one. Kara is amazing and I'm glad she got some well deserved credit winning major awards.

The two training ones (photobucket is being problematic with one) are from Lau Kar-Leung's Mad Monkey Kung Fu. The other one is of his other film My Young Auntie. Both are pretty chill though Auntie is definitely the better of the two.

Looks better then 4. Do you know the details about Hayter? I heard he wasn't asked to return but haven't looked into it.

That's what Hayter said, but to me the whole thing stinks. Maybe Hayter will voice Snake somewhere in the game, or I dunno. It's too early to tell really. I doubt Kojima would be such an asshole, but people have done stranger things...

What'd you think of Matango: Attack of the Mushrrom People? I thought it was a blast and was really taken back by how much dred the rubber mushroom people provoked.

Man that movie is awesome, Jack and I talk about it frequently and I should probably just re-watch it and give it an official bump to five. The suits surprised me as well but I just never expected such an effective opening or such great acting! The shot of the rope when someone got shot followed by the money spilled on the ground, fucking incredible.

The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters

The real interesting thing about this film is in the controversy of what was left out of it (Mitchell’s “darker” side, score controversies, information made up to protect Mitchell’s scores) and what…  read review

A great combination of both intelligence and entertainment, Liu Chia-Liang delivers a shining example of why martial arts cinema is unfairly looked over in the hallowed halls of great genre/world cinema…  read review
