i hope somebody at criterion gets to see this tread, they should start using Spanish subtitles as soon as 2010, and mandarin subtitles as soon as 2012( or sooner) that’s where the market(and the world its going) multiculturalism; just watch “inglorious basterds”;
the only people in the world that consider themselves to be highly educated and speaks only their native language are the Americans (no offense, i love that country; the jazz, some of the best movies, hopper, the bomb)
why are criterion commentaries in audio only?
how could you prefer to watch a movie like " the royal tenenbaums" without its soundtracks?
or any other good movie for that matter…like “cria cuervos” or “yojimbo”
michael mann, regularly appears on the set of “miami vice” with the pages of the script the same day of shooting.
kubrick its said to have done the same while shooting “barry lyndon”
the same its said of malick in: “days of heavens” and “the thin red line”( almendros was the one that said that)
actually i ve been to one small province of France, and some of the people were unfriendly, but almost all of them speaks or were learning another language; don’t know in the big cities like Paris or Lyons…but…
mann is the man, “miami vice”. “heat” “the insider” and even “the keep” are really great movies.
but this was about our Polanski s favorite wasn’t it? (how can you judge a film to be the best?)
mine happens to be “the ninth gate”…because Toledo its beautiful
now that criterion is planning to release a blu ray edition of : “days of heaven”
its time to ask for " badlands" a movie that deserves the criterion treatment, and that probably going to sell well
with brad pitt and the imax publicity that “the tree of life” me get in 2010
i hope they give to it soon,
warner s dvd is way dated, such a wonderful film, such beauty…can not be appreciate on that tiny disc, its deserves a 50 gigabytes disc
