Unfinished Spaces (2011) needs to be added to his directed movies. This movie does a great job at expressing the architecture of the School of Arts in Cuba, and recognizes a forgotten architectural gem. In addition, this director does a superb job at portraying the difficulties faced by the architects to work on these buildings. and the personalities behind this architecture and Cubas architecture. Thanks to MUBI for providing this beautifully and masterly crafted film from Abel Gance. This film consistently amazes and saddens the soul. His use of color and framing of each scene are incredible. Many memorable moments.
Where is "A Thousand Clowns"? Must be recognized for his great acting in this hilarious film!
A Thousand Clowns - A great movie that is simply hilarious. Superb acting by both Jason Robards and Martin Balsam. Must be recognized and added!
How about Stigmata? 1999
Please add The Hot Spot (1990). Don Johnson's best.
Where is The Good Thief, a great film with Nick Nolte. Needs to be added!
This is missing a lot of pertinent content such as music, synopsis, etc. Needs to be updated!
A surprisingly enjoyable film combines slapstick comedy with a clever plotline that delights the viewer. This inventive film has unique character portrayals and quirky details that bring about laughs throughout the movie. Highly recommended.
Similar to Glengarry Glen Ross in the progression of scenes and density of conversation, Hurlyburly was another film where Kevin Spacey played a very intricate believable personality. The character portrayals in both Glengarry Glen Ross and Hurlyburly keep me coming back for second, third, fourth watchings. Where is this listed in the Auteurs?
Great idea, poorly executed. The direction of film was stilted and each scene seemed forced and overacted. Although, the film represented a romantic resemblance of the west, the viewer is constantly bombarded with "western" cliches and scenes that just last too long to get the point across. A fun movie but doesn't hold up as a whole.
A jumbled mess. The film strives for absurd juxtopositions, innane actions, and styling directing. Although at times, a single idea will grab ahold of the viewer, involving Lys Lys and Gaston Modot, the film often lacks beauty, intelligible actions, and interest. At the end, the viewer gains very little to consider or to remember.
A fast paced colored hyper surreal world where morality is unimportant and where love is suppose to connect the viewer to characters with little to no depth and fruitless actions. Although this film often times transports you to a visually stunning world, the lack of content is difficult to avoid and leaves the viewer with little to grab a hold of at the end.
An imaginative film with beautiful directing but unfortunately lacks the cohesiveness to draw the viewer into a world throughout the film. Although at points, the movie taps into an imaginative plotline, the characters are undeveloped and often annoying. In the end, the movie leaves off as one note but with parts that are unusual and remembered.
