OK I take back my 5 stars - MKP and SJP have totally lost it - the plot is terrible and the writing even worse. It was probably not a good idea for me to watch the original TV series before watching this film, because in the TV series, you see fast-paced wittiness throughout, but here everything is bland and puts you to sleep. The only thing that makes the film somewhat entertaining is the newly caring & sensitive Big and Penelope Cruz... Even the fashion is terrible. It was amazing to see in the TV series that, even in 1998, Carrie wore Louboutins. In SATC2, everything that everyone wore seems like it came from Bergdorfs, nothing quirky or interesting. I would have expected more experimentation by Patricia Field.
First time I saw this - can't believe it's taken this long, but blown away by the plot, the actors, the sadness of it all. I think I appreciate it a lot more at this age than I would have when I was younger. Plus, the retro NY street scenes are amazing.
I must see this based on Gabe's comments alone.
The actors are phenomenal, but the plot/ script is too Hollywood, even for my taste.
Michael is the chosen one. He dances as if he breathes. He makes all the other dancers look dull. Truly inspiring.
This film shows how much Tom Ford is obsessed with aesthetics. The sets and fashion are impeccable! The men are hot and look like demi-gods. Each shot is a well thought out work of art. Everything is too perfect, like a vogue magazine shoot. On the other hand, the story is a bit unmoving and typical. And the ending... um, is that it? is all I have to say. And, Colin Firth is not great at portraying a gay guy.
OMG soooo cute! Is the Auteurs penguin modeled after these chicks?
The real broadway show is much, much better!
Such an enjoyable film.. I especially loved Penelope Cruz, Marion Cotillard, Fergie, and Kate Hudson! Loved it much, much better than Chicago.
RDJr is the best! As is Jude... Loved the new interpretation of Sherlock Holmes - so different from the Conan Doyle novels I used to read as a kid!
Without even watching it - I know it is going to be 5 stars...
Two stars for Meryl Streep but that's about it... I'm quite offended by the horrendous styling and lack of fashion sense displayed by the stylists for this film... I mean if you are to make a Hollywood film, can't you at least get that portion right?
I LOVED this film! Didn't know Audrey could be so real and human! And, after watching this I totally get where Blair Waldorf gets her influence from! lol.
I get that Chanel is known for her minimalism during her day and age, but the dresses she designed in the movie were just not appealing. Reminded me more of minimalist Jil Sander rather than decadent Chanel. It's quite ironic that Chanel is now perceived as a more over-the-top brand whereas Coco thought differently.
怖い!!!
Wow, can't wait to see this! I am a big fan of the other POB documentary, Etoiles!
I don't understand WIntour's rationale behind doing this documentary - because Grace Coddington runs the show! I didn't realize that all of the Vogue clippings I've collected over the years were done by her. What a genius.
Yay Zeina!
A little slow, but Christoph Waltz runs the show.
I don't know why it took me this long to see this movie. It is almost like watching theater; it centers so much on the characters. I can see where X-files got its inspiration - Clarice is kind of like the original Scully!
I'm scared not of Bruno but of the reactions of hatred and uncomfort he evokes in people... It's a tough dose of reality about how people fear things that are unspoken of.
The music and story line was terrible. What's up with the constant use of the bass drum? Trying to evoke a sense of seriousness?
Cute, but in my mind I can't replace Ian with Aidan from SATC!
Rough around the edges compared to 21 grams, but still haunting and disturbing, great movie.
"These photos are us in love, spanning time. No bullshit faces. No funny faces." What an amazing film. Love the coloring, the cinematography. Vincent Gallo is hot. My all-time favorite film.
I watched this film when I was in college, and remember it freaking me out. Very visual, very grotesque, makes you feel helpless after watching it. Also loved the music by Nine Inch Nails, it truly added to the horror effect. I haven't felt like music would have this much effect on a movie since then, until I saw "There Will be Blood" recently.
Wow! absolutely surreal, and comical.
