“In drama school, they don't think of movies as a pure form like theater, and it's films that I love most. There's an intimacy in movies - I wanted to have the same impact on others that movies had on me.”
“I like to do very different roles. I’m not recognised in the street, and I wouldn’t like to be. I like to take on a different face, learn from that character and move on to another one.”
“The way I break it down is, movies is a director’s medium, television is kind of the writer/producer/creator medium, and actors can really test their mettle in the theatre, because it’s like the decathlon for actors. The film can be a decathlon too, but one day you do the javelin, and the next day you do the shot-put. But in the theatre experience, you’re doing that decathlon every night, and it just gets you in shape and just gets your blood pumping.”
“There are two kinds of directors: There's the kind where two plus two equals four, and you have to help them figure it out. And then there's the kind that throws you in a room, locks the door, sets the house on fire and films it.”
“You’re willing to take a plunge from any height. There’s just something about being in front of the camera. And being in front of an audience is the same thing. It’s hopeless. I guess I’m just a ham.”
