Love--9

Amour

AMOUR is a beguilingly banal and vapid film from Michael Haneke whose distancing style is so at odds with the material (about love), it renders the film sterile. Has Haneke finally reached the epoch of the “celebrity auteur” who film festivals, critics and audiences must honor under the braise of obligation? Strong performances notwithstanding, the acclaim AMOUR has received is surprising and possibly suspicious.
