I'd start with his first feature, Ivan's Childhood. It is one of the better and more tragic of war pictures. It'll give you a taste of his aesthetic, and on that film alone, you should be able to tell whether you want to continue pursuing him or not. He made far more complex films that were both visually and intellectually attractive, but those aren't to be jumped into. Enjoy! Also, I'm going to continue exploring Dario Argento. I think Suspiria is the only film I've seen!
