I would say that what is being argued (and it's a point that I agree with) that American culture as it exists today was founded of racism (from the genocide of Native American peoples to the enslavement of Africans) and since then America has remained essentially racist in that it's, consciously or unconsciously, systematized to preserve white privilege.
Thanks for the reply Rawdealbuffy. Have to take issue (must add, not being froward for the sake of it!) with 'war is wrong' as an absolute. 'Wrong' is a value judgement you are giving 'war' ,which in itself is an abstract concept. Your position on preaching to the converted I think has a lot of truth to it and appears to be a growing trend. It is strangely paradoxical when one considers the wealth of opinion and knowledge available to anyone with a computer. Susan Jacoby discusses the phenomenon in her book The Age of American Unreason - certainly worth a look.
