Thanks Phil. There actually is a "clean" version. The DVD will have a clean version on it: http://cleanflixthemovie.bigcartel.com/product/cleanflix-dvd
This is one of the most breathtaking and unpleasant films I've ever seen. I found myself fully manipulated by Lynne Ramsay's work; mesmerized while simultaneously wishing I that it would all be over soon.
This film vaulted what I assumed to be impossible expectations. The film is outstanding in every capacity. A masterpiece that captures a fully unique horrific tone. A tragedy that Laughton never made a follow up.
A wonderful study in copyright law, repression, selective morality, and the craft of film making itself. The revelations about Daniel Thompson though true and unfortunately essential to the telling of the story, do cloud the issue to a degree and allow for easy vilification where there were other issues I would have loved to have seen explored and other voices heard. Pity there isn't a Cleanflix version for my mom.

Great behind the scenes look but certainly doesn't help the uninitiated. Didn't see any of the genius that has been discussed regarding this campaign team, and not having any exposure to campaign teams before and after this one, I had no idea what it is that they changed. I'm sure its stunning for those in the know. Really wish I was.
Really enjoyed the vision across the board. Certainly inspired by cerebral sci-fi epics of the past but a solid and engaging entry in the genre. A feast for cinematography nerds.
Shrill irrelevance. Completely uninspired on all counts which is a tragedy given all the talent involved.
Not really sure what the director was going for here. Much of the film is focused on the back of the actors heads or letting the action happen off screen. Both great techniques but here they are used ad nauseum. I was ready to feel the terror and the tragedy of the characters circumstance but instead found her to be a lump of clay that fidgeted with explosions went off. Really disappointing given all the praise.
Wonderful example of subtle but potent eroticism. Bunuel composes with his audiences unconscious desires rather than explicit exploitation.
It hit every one of my cinematic sweet spots. I was fully taken in by Refn's direction and was fully satisfied with where he took me.
Love it because it's brilliant craft. Hate it because it has inspired the worst in student filmmaking.
Really wanted to like this one as the visuals were so stunning and the performances solid. But yeah, the director seemed to be under as much sedation as Lucy.
Felt like Payne without teeth. I completely missed whatever the critics seem to have found in this one.
Surprising and breathtaking craft. Every note was pitch perfect and the performances heartbreaking and brilliant.
After being so enchanted by Cocteu's Beauty and the Beast I was disappointed with Orpheus. The art and the invention was still present but little of the awe. It felt like successful experimentation rather than a unique perspective on the myth.
One of those films that renews one's passion for the art of filmmaking.
Really wanted to enjoy this more than I did. I find Taymor's Titus to be outstanding but here, her magic only seems to muddy the story. The performances from Mirren, Hounsou, and Wishaw for me were the standouts with the rest of the cast either only playing a single note or barely distinguishing themselves from other characters. It is certainly a watchable film but is not in the pantheon of Shakespearean adaptation.
I'm the only one I know who cried at the end but thought the movie as a whole was only OK.
The worst (or best) example of Tony Scott's egregiously epileptic editing style that it seems he has thankfully started to back off on. An edit with little to no coherence and a lame story to boot.
Pretty lame considering the talent involved.
Great work by Alec Guinness and Christopher Plummer but the rest is an egregious bore.
Hilarious.
Only worth seeing for the storm sequence.
The ambition is admirable but it's so chock full of ridiculousness dressed to look respectable that it ends up being a failure on most counts.
Not his best but a lot of fun.
I'm well aware of the fact that I'm one of maybe 8 people in the world who thought this was only ok. Only found a few laughs and sure I got choked up at the end but I would have cried if the last scene had been a stand alone short. The rest of the film found repetitive and unengaging.
An embarrassingly poor critique of religion and mass mentality. Enormous waste of great talent on all levels.
The plot is paper thin but it works brilliantly as a vehicle for Gervais. Beautifully executed last line.
Everything that is here was done already and better with Gervais and Merchant's "The Office". There is charm and wit of course but the character arc's are wholly unbelievable and maudlin. Great cast though. Would love to see them all do other work.
Loved it. Van Damme is absolutely convincing and showcases dramatic chops I would have never believed. Why this hasn't completely revitalized his career is beyond me.
