Yes, I like Wes Anderson. I have seen all of his films. After watching The Darjeeling Limited, I got bored with the filmmaker. All of his films have the same feel and same themes, etc. I’m waiting for him to make something like Boogie Nights or Reservoir Dogs.
Don’t get me wrong though, this guy is talented.
I love Rushmore, hands-down his best I think. I love The Life Aquatic as well.
I don’t care for The Royal Tenebaums and Bottle Rocket so much.
The Darjeeling Limited is a good film though, despite the feeling that I had already seen it before.
I really want Wes Anderson to step out of his “dysfunctional family relationships” movies and make something truly GROUNDBREAKING, because I know he can.
And besides… even if I were rich I’m a cheap bastard and would only buy criterions in the fashion that I do now. And that fashion is only when they’re used and cheap or if I ABSOLUTELY must have it (Seven Samurai 3 Disc). I own maybe 15 criterion movies, and proud to say it.
Oh, by the way, I found a mint copy of 8 1/2 for $2 at a thrift store. Steal of the century my friends.
Hi there. I’m Nate and I’m only 17. I’ve been watching films since I was about 12 years old. I love Kubrick more than any director. I found out about this site through Criterion’s new site. Nice place. Love the free flicks. See ya around.
Easily one of the best films I’ve ever seen, I own the Criterion and have watched it several times. I even showed it to one of my friends who has never watched a silent film in his life and even he said he liked it and he’s no film buff like me. I think that just goes to show you how suprisingly modern it really is, as one other member said. If ever a film were a masterpiece, then this is it. It’s amazing that a film nearly a century old can move people in such a way and feel so powerful. Wow!
The film is PERFECT, the acting some of the best I have seen in my life by the young Falconetti, in which this was the only film she ever appeared in. I’d say that it definately renewed my intrest in film as an art form after I saw it, I need to see Dryer’s other films, which I haven’t checked out yet…

So what's the film that your friends loved and you thought was rubbish. over 3 years ago
I agree with Boondock Saints and Pan’s Labyrinth.
Juno is a film my friends love but I think is very overrated.
Also I know a lot of people who liked Atonement, and that was torture to me.

I’d personally like to see Kubrick direct it, but he had to go and die like a jerk.

It was one of Kubrick’s favorites too. He would show it to the crew of The Shining, trying to give them an idea of the feel he was trying to create.
