I've never seen such a remarkably bitter, angry, scathing, and sarcastic film since I can remember. I can't believe I went so long without knowing this film exists!
Just watched this again for the first time in 4 years or so. It was quite the film.
Raw. It's worth seeing just to watch Herzog on screen. A phenomenal film.
Was one of the best films I saw this year...
A truly phenomenal film that links so many portions of Los Angeles into a unified whole. Where else could we find the relation of a baseball stadium to a junk car lot.
Ah, the end was fantastic!
I thought this film was a phenomenal portrait of how chaos descends on the third world once the colonizers get booted out. Remarkable imagery, it resonated deeply.
So similar to life how the characters got tossed around by their environmental factors and how everything seemed out of their control.
This was a really well constructed film. Everything was done so efficiently. It's amazing how in touch Costa is with the situations of the relegated class of people he films.
This is the craziest film I've seen in a while. Half melodrama, half political thriller. Time all cut up. It's nuts!
I liked the irony.
Can I get something better than two crappy alternatives.... A life of shallow bourgeois high living based on thievery, or an education at Oxford. So she ends up going to Oxford because she can't figure out anything else to do? Is this supposed to be the harsh reality of growing into adulthood. The people who make these films are so damn removed from reality!
The last scene reminded me of leaving a city for the last time, not knowing when you'll return.
It's amazing how much Yang understood life to make this film.
This film captivated me. I need to watch it again! Words to describe will come later...
Wherein lies moral responsibility... A great film about responsibility for our actions, or lack thereof.
Rough and gritty, it's such a dirty indulgement! :)
Such a compelling film, how we get lost in our dreams and our entire reality becomes defined by them.
Liked it a lot, but not sure that I love it. I got it, but definitely need to watch it again.
Was thoroughly enjoyable. I liked Kiarostami's piece the best, with the older woman stopping the younger man from engaging the younger woman.
Intense reflection.
brilliant, absolutely fantastic.
Or rather, must the idea of revolution remain so far in the past?
Let's revisit the idea of revolution and something better than the present.
Absolutely fantastic!!!
Hmm... Did the film really have to hint about what was going to happen, and then take us through the visceral details???? Otherwise, thought it was great, especially seeing the young girl's feeling on sex and sensuality
