Sion Sono

I don't always love his films, but I keep coming back for more.

A Dangerous Method

Disappointing for a Cronenberg film. He usually has a way of making the subject matter an extension of himself in his films, and Dangerous Method lacked that severely. Perhaps too much of a challenge for him to take on. Keira Knightly failed to capture Spielrein's spirit, and Fassbender could of used more direction as Jung. Viggo did a superb job as Freud, too bad he couldn't save the film.

Good to know. I am trying to decide what to see today. I'll wait for video. I'll go catch "Trouble in Paradise" instead.

Nice to see Julian Sands in something other than tv...even if he's mute.

Super 8

I enjoyed the kids' Herschell Gordon Lewis type home movie more than the film itself.

The Last Movie

Horrible movie, amazing cast. Looks like it could have been good. In the drug haze that is this film there can be found some amazing moments. Pity Hopper couldn't pull it together. Perhaps next time I'll get massively drunk and and pop pills to watch this. I'm seeing so many stars/positive reviews I must be missing something.

you should watch "The American Dreamer," the documentary about the making of this film. Essential. I think it's on youtube.

Watched Gimli Hospital: Reframed at Film Society Lincoln Center. Not to be missed if you are a Maddin fan.

Neds

Started off very strong but then got lost along the way. Seem like the director was struggling trying to finish the film.

13 Assassins

A very straightforward film for Miike til the end. Another proof that he can tackle just about anything and still keep his style.

Private Parts

Thought it be more absurd, perverse humor...well...yeah that was in there, but what i didn't expect was Hitchock tension taking the lead.

Salt

Cheesy dialog, fun action sequences, I enjoyed it more than I thought I would.

Salt

Started off strong but ended with more focus on others rather than Burroughs himself. Could of done without some of the interviews. Too much repetition in what was being said. Felt they could of focused more on his work than his influence in music.

I agree. I think Burroughs was a little too glorified by some of interviewees.

American Grindhouse

Entertaining and cute? documentary. Could have benefit from more interviewees...anything to take away from John Landis screen time.

Black Swan

A good horror movie (in the old sense). I wish there was more Winona yelling and throwing stuff.

Lifeforce

Almost gave it 3 stars because of Mathilda May and Patrick Stewart's smooch, but then came to my senses and realized its definitely a 2 at best.

I enjoyed the first half but the second half was awful. Not for the extreme violence but the story fell into shambles. Very disappointing. I'm giving it 3 stars just because Mylene.

Was it good? I'm not sure...I was too distracted by the girls in uniform holding guns.

If you have the dvd watch the extras. Hiroshi Harada is truly amazing!

Read the book! Pretty movie but incredibly overrated. I think we all fall in love with how pretty Valerie is.

So strange yet realistic? Women don't talk like that but they do think like that, and the mutant chickens..I heard stories about KFC...
