I bolted out of Tetsuo: Iron Man mainly because we had a smoke before going in and some of the scenes in that film started to make me feel really ill… hey, it was like over 10 years ago, okay… and no I’m not totally embarrassed… well maybe a bit. :)
This could be a little sad, but what the hey… that bit in Blood Simple when Ray’s head hits the pillow and then he’s standing up (or is it vice verse) has really stuck in my memory. A similar thing happens in Cashback too.
Lauren: I actually posted this because I started adding directors names to my profile and felt kind of depressed that they were pretty much all men. Generalising is a bit crap but I personally believe women are better at most things than men, men just shout louder. :)
—5: Do you know if that 60+% goes for outside the US too? That would explain why mainstream Hollywood films are in such a shabby state these days. Hollywood should lead, not follow. Ignore the target audience. Get out of the comfort zone. Give us more surprises… maybe getting more women involved would help shuffle things around a bit. Or targeting ‘niche’ markets to unlock up new types of audiences. It can’t hurt. I’m preaching to the converted, huh. I’ll stop now. :)
—alanedit: A book about women editing films would be awesome. So do it and thanks for the amazing info.

Some Joseph Losey, like Accident and The Servant. More Alex Cox, like Repo Man and Highway Patrolman. More British directors, pretty much. :)

What did Madonna direct? It’s weird how big a percentage of directors that were actresses there are.
