I’m not one of those guys who just likes movies. I like the movies that I like. I won’t watch just anything, but if it sounds interesting I’ll give it a go. I used to be really into the classic arthouse flicks like Bergman and Tarkovsky, but I’m more into modern envelope-pushing stuff these days. Recently, since I moved to Japan, I’ve been focusing mostly on Japanese cinema. Not Kurosawa and his contemporaries, but more like Anime artists and disturbed auteurs such as Takashi Miike. Any suggestions welcome.

I read books too—-just thought I’d throw that out there. My tastes are about the same.
