Mannnn, but TCM is, like, a metaphor. A rural Texas family is deemed worthless by society (they were butchers replaced by machines), and without a regulating "super-ego" (using Freudian terms only to mark the significance of their desiccated father--they cleave to him in the same perverse way they still relate to society as a whole), they fall on their victims with "the devouring fury of a vicious hound." And then they killed some middle-class hippies and THE BONES WERE REAL. TOBE HOOPER BOUGHT THEM FROM INDIA OR SOMETHING AND IT'S OFF-PUTTING BUT ALSO TOTALLY RAD.
Also some guy had to lie on the ground for a shot and it was >40 degrees and he heard his face cooking on the pavement, and somebody almost got Texas Chain Sawed for real.
