The Matrix!!! It was so boring I fell asleep, to me that is pure shite filmmaking. Also anything like Transformers, absolutey no intelligence in that poor excuse for a plot. OH and Will Ferrall makes me cringe, excpet Superstar(well only because I love Molly Shannon)and Stranger than Fiction.
the scene in Irreversible when Alex and Marcus are in the apt and are just waking up and getting ready to go out
when Alma catches Ennis and Jack kissing, the look on her face and how she tries to hold it together when Ennis is leaving w/ Jack
that spanking scene in Secretary and the bathing scene
ALL of Russian Ark, I mean it is all one shot it is very hard to choose a favorite. the film is just beyond gorgeous and actually brings me to tears(I’m a big sap and cry at the drop of a hat though)
the first time Y beats J in Lies
Election, Fargo, Mommie Dearest, Die Mommie Die, But I’m a Cheerleader, Valley of the Dolls(quite possibly the funniest film I’ve ever seen) & Beyond Valley of the Dolls, Happiness, Welcome to the Dollhouse, Borat, The House of Yes, Ma Vei en Rose(My Life in Pink), Zus and Zoe, L’iceberg and anything by Jonh Waters. I am also a Troma fanatic…………
I’ve heard that MTV films wants to remake Rocky Horror, there is no way it will not be total and complete shit. I amost never watch remakes, and I hate when they remake foreign films into american films. Shall we Dance w/ Jennifer Lopez??!!! I did however love Rob Zombies Halloween, I think that’s the only horror film remake I actually liked.
Horror and almost anything w/ vampires(not Underworld that was shit)or people just going crazy and something that actually disturbs me(which is usually an Asian horror film) I love dark comedys and anything campy, those two combined make a perfect film in my world. Avant garde and surreal, basically anything non cinefiles would call “weird and fucked up”. OH and I love sweeping romantic films, like the English Patient/Brokeback Mountain.
My name is Angela and I was raised on cinema, at the age of 6 my favorite films were the Rocky Horror Picture Show, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre(the original), La Dolce Vita & Mommie Dearest. So needless to say my friend’s parents weren’t too keen on them coming over to my house. I’ve grown into a complete and total film snob and have no problem telling others that they just might have bad taste in films. I never listen to anyone’s opinions and never read reviews before I go see a film in the theater.
Troma films, most of my friends don’t get it at all. I love them, I’ve yet to see one I don’t like. Short Bus, it got flak from having actual sex in it. I think people who aren’t intelligent won’t see past that, I think it’s a great film with really great acting and interesting characters.
I didn’t see either of those, not enough intelligence or substance for me. So Criterion released them?? You do have the choice to not watch them, so why bother bitching about it?
Ok this is really tough, but I have to go with seeing Irreversible for the first time. I don’t read reviews or anything about a film till I see it, so I only heard a few rumblings about how it was shocking. I had no idea what I was in for, and about half the people walked out before the film ended. I didn’t notice any of that while watching the film, I become deeply immersed in the story. That film shook me to the core, it was an awe inspiring experience. That film put on such an emotional roller coaster, that when it was over I was still staring at the screen. I immediately bought a ticket for the very next showing and I saw it eight times in the theater(not that day, all together)
I showed this film to a friend, she had her eyes closed for most of the film. It’s defiantly not a film for everyone, it’s my favorite Pasolini film. I’ve seen it many times, and I only first watched the film because it was based on de Sade’s novel(he is my favorite author and someone I admire greatly)Salo was actually the film that introduced me to Pasolini’s work, and he has become a favorite filmmaker of mine.
I’m a total film geek and always listen to the commentaries after I’ve seen the film w/out them. I just really love listening to the filmmakers talk about their experiences, but I’ve also heard some really boring ones. I usually stop the commentary if it’s putting me to sleep…….
