I’m Canadian. I also have American and Australian citizenship. I currently live in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. I also call Pymble, NSW, Australia home.
After listening to music and making sweet, sweet love – watching a movie is my favorite thing to do.
I like watching movies in the buff, eating other people’s cooking, scaring old people, and taking long romantic walks on the beach.
Despite what my user name may indicate, I’m a straight man. I happen to like how “Orphan Seasun” tumbles from the tongue and I’m fond of the ideas it evokes. It’s also an anagram of my real name.
My Auteurs “Sight & Sound Poll” contribution:
Amarcord (Federico Fellini)
The Double Life of Véronique (Krzysztof Kieślowski)
Fanny and Alexander (Ingmar Bergman)
Fitzcarraldo (Werner Herzog)
La Jetée (Chris Marker)
Mean Streets (Martin Scorsese)
Ordet (Carl Dreyer)
Playtime (Jacques Tati)
The Pornographers (Shohei Imamura)
Vertigo (Alfred Hitchcock)
Other films I could have included, but didn’t for one reason or another usually having nothing to do with deciding their exclusion (e.g. it didn’t come to mind at the time):
Withnail & I (Robinson)
Mulholland Dr. (Lynch)
A Canterbury Tale (Powell & Pressburger)
L’Enfant (Dardenne Bros.)
Rules of the Game (Renoir)
The Third Man (Reed)
Notorious (Hitchcock)
Cries and Whispers (Bergman)
Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia (Peckinpah)
Dr. Strangelove (Kubrick)
Once Upon a Time in the West (Leone)
etc.
Alas, I would have liked to have included something from Tarkovsky, Kurosawa, Ozu, Varda, Buñuel, Sturges, Wenders, Jarmusch, and many others. In fact I had to worry and fret over which directors to include in the last sentence. This list thing is for the birds!
